Biography
Leon King is a Ph.D. Candidate in Statistical Science at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. His academic journey has been shaped by a long-standing interest in mathematics, statistics and computer science. During his undergraduate studies, he developed a strong foundation in mathematical and statistical thinking, which later motivated him to pursue advanced training in machine learning and deep learning during his master's program. These experience not only strengthened his technical background but also shaped the way he approached research--emphasizing logical reasoning, critical thinking, and evidence-based analysis.
Leon's dissertation focuses on Bayesian neural networks for language modeling and natural language understanding, as well as Bayesian methods for time series analysis. I am particularly interested in bridging traditional statistical methodology with modern neural networks, with the goal of developing models that are both interpretable and capable of strong predictive performance.
Leon is a native speaker of Chinese and is proficient in English. He is also currently learning Spanish, motivated by both personal interest and a desire to engage more deeply with diverse cultures.
Outside of academics, he enjoys staying active through workouts and sports, including tennis, pickleball, archery, and golf. He has also enjoy traveling and have visited over 30 states in the United States and more than 20 national parks.
