Industrial Vehicles

At ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ, a variety of industrial vehicles are used regularly on campus. ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ Industrial Vehicle Program is a combination of multiple smaller programs (Forklift, Scissor-Lift, Aerial-Lift, Backhoe, Skid-steer, etc.) This Program contains industry standards, OSHA regulations, and ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ specific standards.

Anyone who operates (students, staff, contractors, etc.) an industrial vehicle on ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ property will need to follow ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ safety standards

ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ students or employees who want to use an industrial vehicle will need to receive authorized training from ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ ORM. Training can be in-person or a combination of online and in-person training.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ Specific Safety Standards:

  • All industrial vehicle lifts on campus require the operator to wear a fall protection harness.
  • Aerial Lifts nor scissor lifts will be operated at height with winds over 25 mph.
  • If traveling in any industrial vehicle, working in a high traffic area, or on the road, the area shall be blocked off or have dedicated flaggers or a pilot vehicle to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other vehicles.
  • Industrial vehicles that have road vehicle lights or is a landscaping vehicle (lawnmowers, tractors, sprayers) do not need a pilot vehicle when operating on ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ owned roads.
  • No combustion engines may be operated inside a building without a method to exhaust contaminants and continues air monitoring.
  • Only authorized ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ employees may operate ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ industrial vehicles.
  • ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ contractors shall not use ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ vehicles without prior approval from ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ ORM.
