Dylan Hunn had a confession to make Saturday afternoon. He likes math, a lot.

β€œMath really is my favorite subject at school. I’ve gone as far as reading workbooks for fun during the summer,” said Dylan, a 14-year-old freshman at Shepton High School in Plano. β€œThat’s kind of nerdy.”

Well, maybe. But his mathematics experiment, which won first place in his division at the Beal Bank Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair hosted by ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Methodist University’s physics department, was kind of awesome, like many of the 750 other projects on display at Fair Park.

Dylan said his β€œepiphany” came not in math class but in a class called human geography.
