Ministers Week set for Feb. 7-9 at Perkins School of Theology

'What鈥檚 a Christian to Do? 鈥 Thinking Faithfully about War and Peace in Troubled Times, is the theme for this year鈥檚 annual event.

鈥淲hat鈥檚 a Christian to Do? 鈥 Thinking Faithfully about War and Peace in Troubled Times鈥 is the theme for this year鈥檚 gathering.

  • Joseph L. Allen, Professor Emeritus of Ethics at Perkins, will present the opening lecture, 鈥淥nward, Christian Soldiers? Christian Thinking on War and Peace.鈥

  • Miguel De La Torre, Professor of Social Ethics at Iliff School of Theology in Denver will present the Barton Lecture, 鈥淭he Consequences of U.S. Wars in Latin America for Hispanics.鈥

  • Nicole L. Johnson, Assistant Professor, Philosophy & Religious Studies at the University of Mount Union in Ohio will present the Women鈥檚 Lecture, 鈥淲ar, Nonviolence and Methodist Doctrine.鈥

  • Laura J. Bender, Command Chaplain, USS New York will present the Martin Lecture, 鈥淢ilitary Ministry: Religion, Conflict, and the Realities of War.鈥

  • Robin W. Lovin, Cary Maguire University Professor of Ethics at 葫芦娃视频 will present the Faculty Lecture, 鈥淪haping the Emerging Global Order: Christianity, War, and the Nation-State.鈥

  • The Fondren Lectures, 鈥淒ialogues on War and Peace,鈥 feature four eminent theologians, including: J. Philip Wogaman, Professor Emeritus of Christian Ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.; Glen Harold Strassen, Lewis B. Smedes Professor of Christian Ethics at Fuller Theological Seminary in California; D. Stephen Long, Professor of Systematic Theology at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Kevin M. Carnahan, Assistant Professor of Philosophy & Religion at Central Methodist University in Missouri.

Perkins Ministers Week is held annually, generally on the first Monday through Wednesday in February.聽This continuing education program includes endowed lectureships, a variety of worship services, workshops, and symposia, drawing participants from throughout the United States.
