ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ celebrates the grand opening of CafΓ© 100

DALLAS (ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅) – On Thursday, ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ celebrated the grand opening of the new CafΓ© 100 at the Hughes-Trigg Student ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ as part of the Second Century Celebration .

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ President R. Gerald Turner; Student Body President Jake Torres; student representatives Andrew Conwell, Derek Hubbard and Elise McDonald; and ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ mascot Peruna hosted the grand opening.

CafΓ© 100, formerly Java City,Β will feature Starbucks coffee, which, during the celebration, will be served in complimentary CafΓ© 100 mugs. Beverages and food samples will be available throughout the day.

β€œThe student body is very excited to participate in the opening of CafΓ© 100,” Torres said. β€œIt is an incredible time to be a student at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ as the University begins its Centennial Celebration, and we look forward to many other events celebrating the University's history.”

During the grand opening celebration, Starbucks coffee will be served by celebrity baristas including Vice President of Student Affairs Lori White, Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Doherty and Women’s Basketball Coach Rhonda Rompola. Additional celebrity baristas will be serving coffee throughout the day.

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s Second Century Celebration commemorates the 100th anniversary of the University’s founding and opening. January 1, 2011, was designated as the start of the celebration period, running through 2015. ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ was founded in 1911 and opened in 1915.
