Britain attempts its first coalition government in 65 years

The Conservative PartyÌýand the smaller Liberal Democratic Party, long at odds on most issues, came together in MayÌýto form Britain's first coalition government in 65 years. The BBC's World News Service, seeking unbiased expertise on how the partnership is working, asked ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ's Professor James F. Hollifield in late June for an assessment.

Hollifield, director ofÌýºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ's John G. Tower ºù«ÍÞÊÓÆµ for Political Studies and professor of international political economy, said the coalition was doing surprising well, describing it as "a victory for moderation."
