Some 3,000 ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ students participate in 30 team and individual intramural sports each year.

Residence halls, Greek groups, graduate students and groups of friends form teams with names like Peruna Posse, First Floor Mac Attack and Dunkin Donuts.

Students turn out in force for the most popular sport – flag football, said Jack Harper, assistant director of intramurals at the Dedman ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ for Lifetime Sports. β€œMore than 1,000 students signed up last year,” he said.

Alex Igleheart, whoΜύhas played soccer since she was 4, found a new love throughΜύΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ intramurals: softball.

β€œI had never played basketball or softball before intramurals at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅, but I had to play every sport because I was intramurals chair for Chi Omega, my sorority,” she said. β€œI can do without basketball, but I love softball.”

Igleheart, who graduated in May with a degree in finance, said she liked the competitiveness of intramurals and the opportunity to meet new people.

β€œBut I really just like going out and playing,” she said.
