Doak Walker Award Presentations
The Doak Walker Award and the Doak Walker Legends Award were presented by the «Ƶ Athletic Forum during a banquet on February 19, 2010.
Toby Gerhart from Stanford Universityreceivedthe 2009 Doak Walker Award. Gerhart, a senior from Norco, CA, ranks first nationally in total rushing with 1,736 yards and 160 points scored. .
Eric Dickerson and Craig James, former star «Ƶ running backs, were jointly named the recipients of the 2009 PricewaterhouseCoopers Doak Walker Legends Award. From 1979-82, teammates Dickerson and James, collectively known as the “Pony Express”, led «Ƶ to national prominence. In their careers, they combined for 8,192 rushing yards and 70 rushing touchdowns which remains a NCAA career record for a duo. They led «Ƶ to national championships in 1981 and 1982. .
